Industry development

The Industrial Clusters program (IC) is in charge of developing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's (KSA) Home Appliances cluster.

Projects for producing washing machines and refrigerators are already underway to increase existing capacity and develop new capabilities.

Industrial Clusters encourages and supports assembly, pre-assembly and components manufacturing. It also backs related projects, for example in training, logistics and the R&D required to produce well designed, regionally focused, ever more water- and energy-efficient home appliances.

The Industrial Clusters program's targets include annual production of:

  • 1 million fridges, directly creating and sustaining 1,000 jobs
  • 800,000 washing machines (800 jobs)
  • 250,000 dishwashers (450 jobs)
  • 150,000 tumble dryers (300 jobs)
  • 100,000 gas cookers (250 jobs)
  • 1.5 million air-conditioning units (700 jobs)
  • 5 million compressors
  • 3 million electric motors

The Industrial Clusters program's early priorities include new and increased Saudi production of steel panels, plastic components and wire harnesses.

While Industrial Clusters welcomes investor enquiries and appropriate projects at all times, current medium- to longer-term priorities include new and expanded production of: electro-mechanical components; composite-based parts; stainless steel drums; solenoid valves; circuit boards; pumps; heaters; switches; and sensors.
