Home Appliances cluster

As one of the largest markets in Middle East-North Africa (MENA), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has significant demand for home appliances such as fridges, cookers and washing machines. Most of this demand is met with imports, mainly from Thailand, China, Italy and the US.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry's Industrial Clusters program (IC) is developing a Saudi Arabian Home Appliance cluster. This aims to: build on existing capabilities; reduce the need for imports; enable KSA-based companies to export to other MENA countries; and create and sustain employment.

KSA's advantages include:

  • A large and growing market
  • Readily available, relevant specific raw materials such as plastics, glass, aluminium and technical gases
  • The abundant, reliable energy needed for high-volume production
  • Easy access to Gulf Cooperation Council and Greater Arab Free Trade Area markets
